Thulusdhoo Island, in the Maldives, is located 28km North of Male Airport. Unlike the typical resort islands that the Maldives is more famous for, Thulusdhoo is one of the many locally inhabited islands, and is home to a population of approx 1400 people. It’s also home to some of the best surf spots in the Maldives, the most well known of which is Coke’s, a short walk from the proposed guesthouse, and Chicken’s, accessible by a short boat trip. Besides surf spots the island also boasts delicious local food, beautiful beaches and reef’s for snorkeling and diving.
The proposed Thulusdhoo Guest House has been designed as a hybrid structure; with the ground floor and stairwells to be constructed of concrete and masonry on site, and the 1st and 2nd floors constructed of pre-fabricated timber components, to be manufactured in South Africa by specialist resort builders, T&B Group, and assembled on site.
The proposed guest house has a café and lounge area on the ground floor and a total of 18 bedrooms, each with its own balcony.
